Recent Activities
Gender‑Transformative Care Policies Capacity Strengthening Session
KNDWPN participated among other Civil Society Organizations in a two-day session convened by OXFAM (7–8 April 2026) – Nairobi County. A key highlight was the capacity strengthening session focused on gender‑transformative care policies.
Sub-Regional Networking Forum for Women with Disability Advocates
KNDWPN participated in a two-day forum in Malawi with advocates from Kenya, Rwanda and Malawi, organized by COVAW and DIWA. The key theme was Ending Gender-Based Violence Against Women.
Two Days Consultative Forum convened by UNDP
KNDWPN and other Civil Society Organizations took part in a two-day consultative forum convened by UNDP, focusing on deepening the understanding of unpaid care and domestic work.

A key highlight was the framing of care as a human right, emphasizing its central role in social and economic development.
Participants were introduced to the 5Rs of Care Framework:
- Recognize – Making care work visible in data, policy and public discourse.
- Reduce – Lessening the burden of unpaid care through services and technology.
- Redistribute – Sharing care responsibilities across households, state and markets.
- Reward – Ensuring decent work conditions and fair pay for care workers.
- Represent – Guaranteeing voice and participation for caregivers.
On the second day, discussions focused on the importance of legal frameworks in advancing the care agenda.
Capacity Strengthening Workshop
With support from Disability Rights Fund, KNDWPN and the Kenya Network of Women and Girls with Disabilities ran a workshop on disability frameworks for champions from Meru, Kisumu, Kitui, Nairobi and Busia.

Who We Are
“This was the first time Deaf women were invited to participate alongside hearing women in a forum of this nature since its inception.”
Kenya National Deaf Women Peace Network (KNDWPN) is a Community-Based Organization which was formed out of a unique experience of individual Deaf women. Some Deaf women participated in a National Women's Peace and Human Rights Workshop in Nairobi organized by Women United for Peace - Kenya (WUPI) in 2002. It marked the beginning of spirited efforts to participate in other forums and to forge new networks, as members became intensely aware of what they had been missing out on. The lessons learned, the knowledge gained, and the passion it created were enough reason to form a new organization to look after the interests and needs of Deaf women on matters of human rights, health, leadership, advocacy, and resource mobilization.
